Data collection practices on Web siteThe Computer Users Information Service (CUIS) does not require visitors to its web site to provide individually identifiable information, however if you request a White Paper, we or the authors of the paper (if not the CUIS) may contact to verify if we can be of further help on the subject. Confidentiality and securityThe CUIS takes technical, contractual, administrative and physical steps to protect against unauthorised access to and disclosure of individually identifiable information. The company has developed training documents which detail the policies and procedures associated with data collection, accuracy, quality assurance, updating, notification, disclosure and more. If, during their employment, CUIS employees acquire information belonging to the CUIS, its clients or users of the service, such information is handled in confidence and may not be disclosed to unauthorised third parties. CUIS employees are also responsible for the internal security of such information. The CUIS will not provide data to third parties without a contractual relationship. Our strict contractual processes stipulate valid / authorised uses of this data and bind our trading partners to relevant laws. However, we are not responsible for any breach of security or privacy or any other action by parties who receive this information. Data qualityData quality is at the heart of any successful information company. Working to ensure that data are up-to-date and accurate benefits the data subject and the CUIS. To help ensure quality data, the CUIS employs extensive measures, including regular direct contacts with businesses and quality reviews during the data collection process. CUIS InformationWhilst all of the data collected is business-related, some elements are specifically identifiable to the individuals in the business entity. Such data is limited to information deemed relevant for making business decisions. The CUIS collects this information for purposes such as giving trading partners a sense of who is responsible for IT and other decision-making. Such business uses represent non-personal interests, pertaining to a business enterprise for business-to-business commerce decisions, not the individual personally. The processing of this data is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate business interests of the Computer Users Information Service. Information in the database may be passed to third parties who offer useful products and services to businesses. Sources of InformationWe invest annually in data collection activities. Our primary sources of information are the owners or principals of businesses and public records such as business registries and directories. Direct contact is made with companies on our database to find out and/or check the IT and decision-making contacts. Access and Correction ProcessWhen a business owner, principal, or named individual within a limited company contacts the CUIS about a potential error, we act promptly to correct errors or misleading information whenever we learn of it. Use LimitationsA business may have its information removed from the CUIS business databases on request in writing by an authorised representative.
